Community is at the heart of what we value at Flatiron School. Our campuses are beginning to open for in-person experiences, but in light of recent COVID-19 updates, there’s never been a more important time to do our part to keep our community safe.
Based on recent CDC guidance, particularly as it relates to the Delta variant and its impact on public safety, we are updating our campus policy as we begin to open for in-person experiences.
Effective immediately, full vaccination is required for entrance to any of our Flatiron School locations — including campuses and offices. In addition, masks will be required onsite at all times at campuses located in cities where transmission is designated as substantial or high, only removing to eat or drink at a designated distanced desk.
You can determine your area’s category on the CDC’s COVID Data Tracker.
Updated safety precautions
Vaccinations are required for anyone who will be visiting or attending one of our campuses or offices.
At this point in the pandemic, we are only offering exemptions for individuals who request and are granted medical or religious accommodations. You may request accommodation from this policy for medical or religious reasons by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org
Masks will be worn at all times on campuses located in cities where transmission is designated as substantial or high, only removing to eat or drink at a designated distanced desk.
Other safety measures
In addition to the safety measures outlined above, we have taken steps to ensure our campus spaces and offices are well-equipped.
Signage: All campuses will display COVID-19 signage throughout the space in compliance with local and federal regulations, as well as signage that communicates the COVID-19 policies outlined above.
Safety Supplies: All campuses will have disposable face masks and hand sanitizer available.
1. Will your staff be masked?
Yes, everyone on campus will be following the vaccination and mask requirement, including staff members who are facilitating campus events.
2. Do I need to follow these guidelines if I’m not a current student?
Yes, anyone who wants to visit our campus — including people who register to attend an info session or public event on our campus — must follow these guidelines.
3. Which campuses are open?
Please see our website for a list of campus opening dates and potential programming.
4. Who can visit campus?
Flatiron School campuses may be open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (excluding school holidays) for optional use by students to connect with fellow students and alumni, find quiet studying space, and attend limited networking and workshop events. Some networking and informational events are open to prospective students or visitors.
Please note that to utilize a Flatiron School campus, unless an accommodation is granted pursuant to Flatiron School’s accommodation policy (see the sections of this Catalog entitled “Religious Accommodation” and “Students Seeking Reasonable Accommodation” for more information), in addition to adherence to all other campus rules, students seeking to utilize a campus space must attest to being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In addition, based on current CDC guidance (as of August 2021), absent accommodation, Flatiron School is requiring masks for all campus activities in cities that are classified by the CDC as either “Substantial” or “High Transmission” areas. The current listing of areas in these classifications can be found here. Flatiron School will continue to evaluate its policies related to COVID-19 and may modify them from time to time, including, without limitation, modification or elimination of the campus mask or COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
