Since our founding in 2012, Flatiron School’s mission has been to enable the pursuit of a better life through education. And we’ve done that in a lot of ways. From a rigorous curriculum that teaches in-demand skills to a supportive and inclusive community, we help students change careers with confidence. We also do this by partnering with organizations who want to empower the next wave of tech innovators and leaders. Today, we’re proud to announce our partnership with Cognizant U.S. Foundation and the launch of the NexTech 100 Scholarship.
The Cognizant U.S. Foundation NexTech 100 Scholarship will provide 100 full scholarships to historically underrepresented groups in tech, including women, people of color, veterans, and people with disabilities.
Who’s eligible
The eligibility criteria for the Cognizant US Foundation NexTech 100 Scholarship is listed below. First, recipients must be from historically disadvantaged groups that are underrepresented in tech. Then, additional preference will be given based on education and income backgrounds.
To qualify, applicants must identify as:
- Women
- Underrepresented minorities
- LGBTQ+
- Veterans
- Or people with disabilities
Additional preference will also be given to people who meet the following criteria:
- Individuals who do not hold a 4-year college degree
- Individuals who have never held a job in the field to which they are applying
- Individuals with financial need

The NexTech 100 Scholarship is for Flatiron School’s on-campus programs only. The NexTech 100 Scholarship can be applied to our Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and UX/UI programs at select campuses. Eligible courses and campuses include:
- Chicago (Software Engineering)
- Washington, D.C. (Software Engineering, Cybersecurity Analytics)
- Denver (Software Engineering, UX/UI Design)
- Houston (Software Engineering)
- Atlanta (Software Engineering)
If selected, you’ll enroll in Flatiron School and join a community that supports you throughout the program. This includes our Career Services team and our dedicated career coaches who work 1:1 with you to land a job that’s right for you in tech.
