Frequently asked questions

Where can I find free coding and data science classes in Houston to see if Flatiron School is the right next step for me?

Every month, we host free coding and data science workshops for the Houston community to get a preview into a career as a web developer or in data science.

Where is Flatiron School Houston?

Our custom-built WeWork campus, in the Jones Building, offers the perfect place to learn alongside other students, connect with the building’s startups and business, and benefit from a supportive community of instructors and community partners.

Why Flatiron School over other Houston coding bootcamps or data science classes?

We strive to increase accessibility to our programs through unique, merit-based scholarship opportunities and flexible payment options.

In Houston, we’re one of the only data science bootcamps to offer a full-time data science course.

When do you expect to reopen the campus?

As of March 16, 2020, all of our campuses have transitioned from in-person to remote instruction. Based on guidance received from local and national governmental authorities, remote instruction is scheduled to last through at least the date listed on our course return calendar here. We continue to monitor the situation in each of our campus cities, and will regularly update our on-campus status at the link above.

What’s the difference between virtual campus courses and Online courses?

Studying on our virtual campus is your fastest path to graduation for our programs. The time commitment for virtual campus courses is M-F, 9am-6pm for 12-15 weeks, depending on your program. You’ll learn in sync with your classmates and benefit from a smaller student-to-instructor ratio. Virtual campus days are structured around live lectures, check-ins and group work, utilizing tools like Zoom and Slack to virtually collaborate with your classmates and instructors.

Our Online courses can take anywhere between 5 months and 15 months to complete, depending on your selected pace. You can set your own study hours and cadence to hit deadlines, and weekly lectures and office hours are recorded if you can’t tune in live. When you need help, our Ask-a-Question feature is staffed by our educational team 18 hours a day. You’ll also schedule weekly check-ins with your instructor.
