Interested in making a change in the new year? At Flatiron School, our mission is to enable the pursuit of a better life through education. We help our students launch careers in tech through our rigorous technical courses, our dedicated career services, and our industry leadership in job placements.

If you’re considering a career change, I encourage you to look at coding bootcamps and their employment reporting and results. At Flatiron School, we’re committed to helping you find a job in tech–and we’ve got the data to back it up. Plus, our jobs report is verified by an independent third party.

Are students learning the skills needed to get jobs in tech? Every leg of the student journey at Flatiron School is informed by this one question. At Flatiron School, we’ve built the career services model that every higher education institution would build if they started from scratch.  Our 2019 Jobs Report shows that Flatiron School’s educational model, which applies the same standards in the classroom as employers would apply in the interview process and on-the-job, can successfully equip students with the skills they need to enter the tech industry.  Read on for the highlights of our 2019 Jobs Report—our biggest and most comprehensive to date. The key takeaways

Our grads landed jobs in tech — the results speak for themselves. We’re proud to have a 93% employment rate for job-seeking on-campus and online graduates surveyed on the 2019 Jobs Report. For the purposes of this report, these jobs included full-time salaried roles, full-time contract, internship, apprenticeship, and freelance roles, as well as part-time roles during the reporting period (see full 2019 Jobs Report here).

Our grads landed jobs quickly — the majority of job-seeking grads accepted offers within 2 months of starting their job search. Our report defined a job as employment or engagement as a contractor that is: paid, at least 20 hours of work per week; and anticipated to be at least three months in duration at the time of job acceptance.

Our grads made competitive salaries. Our job-seeking graduates surveyed for our 2019 Jobs Report who accepted full-time salaried jobs and disclosed their compensation had an average starting salary of $74,566.* *The average starting salary for students who took full-time contract, internship, apprenticeship, or freelance roles and disclosed compensation was $33/hr. Average pay for a part-time role was $24/hr (see full Jobs Report report here).

About the data

Our 2019 Jobs Report provides details about our 2018 graduates, including job placement rates, average starting salaries, and the length of time it took to accept a job offer. This year’s report features data from over 800 students across five campuses in four cities — New York City, London, Washington, D.C., Houston — and our online program. Plus, job placement stats for our Data Science program are now available.

We were the first bootcamp to release independently verified jobs data in 2014, setting the bar for the industry. We remain committed to delivering accurate, verified numbers, and that’s why today even 5 years later, we still issue a third party verified report.
