Just one year ago, we launched our Houston campus. More than ever, the city’s home to a burgeoning startup scene and some of the biggest companies in the world. From our very first cohort to our most recent classes, we’re helping students change their careers and lives in Houston.

Adam M., for example, was working in a tech-adjacent field before Flatiron School. He was using Linux and Fortran to model and manage terabytes of data as a depth imaging specialist. Now, he’s a programmer analyst at an energy startup. “Between the instructors and the curriculum I learned so much more than I thought was possible in such a short time, and I definitely felt prepared to enter the tech field upon graduation,” Adam says.

He also found his first network in the tech community through Flatiron School. Adam now has friends and professional connections in tech that he can turn to for advice.

Olivia A. was marketing entrepreneur before Flatiron School. She says she learned a lot about herself and grew as a person during the immersive Software Engineering program. “I was able to build personal connections with everyone on campus and when things got hard, they didn’t allow me to fail. I learned how to code, but I also became a better person and for that I will be forever grateful,” Olivia says.

Olivia’s new role as a junior software engineer at a medical startup gives her the stability she needs as a mother. She also feels like her work is making an impact on society.

We’ve had artistsI.T. specialists, recent college graduates, and investment analysts — to name a few — start careers as software engineers in Houston.

Houston often gets labeled as an “oil and gas” city. While there’s certainly some truth to that, our graduates are proof that Houston is also a tech city. Every industry in Houston needs tech talent. That includes oil and gas, aerospace, construction, and healthcare. As our graduates show, there’s also a great startup scene in the city.

We’re excited to be a part of the tech community and to help shape Houston’s future. With our immersive Software Engineering and Data Science programs, our students are learning the skills they need to succeed today and tomorrow.
