We co-hosted a pretty huge Dev Stackup with Charlie O’Donnell, and grads from our most recent class got to share what they’ve been up to with NY Tech Meetup and Hack and Tell.

Dev Stackup
Dev Stackup drew almost 100 devs (including a lot of Flatiron Alums). Presenters from HowAboutWe, Digital Ocean, Rent the Runway, Blue Apron, and Crowdtap shared their latest achievements in Ruby-related technologies at this dev-only event.
We learned a lot about dev strategies, tough tech choices, and challenges startups face like dev team growing pains and transitioning from one framework to another—and never, ever has refactoring been so entertaining.
New York Tech Meetup
Also on Tuesday, Ruby-004 alums Tristan Siegeland William Jeffries presented their app Heatseek at New York Tech Meetup. Heatseek helps tenants validate their legal claims against landlords who lower the heating in their buildings to inhospitable levels by tracking every hour the apartment is below the legal minimum. If this idea doesn’t get you feeling warm and fuzzy, you should probably ask your landlord about turning the heat up.
Hack and Tell
Ruby-004 alum Eugene Millerman presented online SQL tutorial, MISSQL Command at Hack and Tell. If you haven’t tried it out yet, MISSQL Command is a great way for beginners to learn SQL from scratch, all while saving the world from nuclear annihilation.
