Hiring a Media Intern!

Posted by Flatiron School on November 8, 2012

We’re only halfway through our first semester and things are going better than we could have imagined! We’re hiring a paid Media Intern to help us share that story to the world. You’ll work with our Campus Manager to maintain the social media presence and produce creative content.  We’re a small team with 20 full-time students, so expect a close-knit community with an entreprenurial approach. You’ll have the opportunity to be creative and make an impact.

Along the way, you’ll be helping to create a new system of education that is accountable for giving people the skills they actually need to do great things.

Time and Compensation

Ideally, we’re looking for someone who lives in NYC and can come in to the school campus 10-15 hours a week. We can be flexible with your schedule but are looking for at least a 3 month commitment.

We would work with your school to provide credit and pay $10/hr. Most importantly, you’ll receive real experience and a body of work.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Social Media: Maintain the school blog, actively interact with followers on Twitter, Instagram our school culture, and create new marketing initiatives as needed.

Content: Help produce creative content about the school and our students. That could mean helping with our videos, design work, and secret campus life projects for the students 🙂

Qualifications:

We understand that an internship (by definition) shouldn’t require a lot of previous experience. However, we are looking for someone with an eye for design & photography, an ability to write in a variety of tones, and with an interest in building experience and portfolio work. You might have a badass Pinterest collection, shoot music videos on the side, or design interiors for fun.

Being a morning person gets you mega bonus points 🙂

We are looking for demonstrated examples of your ability to:

Write. You’ll be representing us on our blog, via email, and in printed materials. We’re sticklers for grammar.

Communicate Ideas Visually. In the application, link us to some photos you took, some video you shot, some posters you designed, or even something you’ve drawn.

Bring the Fun. We like to work hard and play hard. Our students will be putting in long hours and it’s important that we help them find time to let loose, relax, bond, and recharge.

This isn’t your average school and this won’t be your average internship. If you’re interested in this position, click here to apply. Or, if you know anyone that might be a great fit, forward this along!
