Celebrating Our First Decade (and many more to come)

Posted by Kate Cassino on May 17, 2022

2022 is a milestone year for Flatiron School: we celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Tech has evolved significantly over the past decade, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the hardworking staff at Flatiron School who have kept pace with the changes. Though I’m still in my first year with Flatiron School, every day I am impressed by and grateful for the hardworking staff, humbled by our students’ tenacity and dedication to succeed, and grateful to our Enterprise clients who are opening doors to the future of work through innovative new programs. Our success wouldn’t be possible without all of you.

Flatiron School was founded in 2012, and from our very first blog post, our mission was clear: to bring a diverse group of students with varying backgrounds together to contribute to the growing tech community.

From our first Software Engineering cohort, we’ve done just that, adding Cybersecurity, Data Science, and Product Design along the way. We now have campuses in New York and Denver, and offer full-time and part-time courses, allowing more students to join us. Through all of our growth, our mission has never waivered: we remain a trusted tech educator at the forefront of innovation, changing lives one student at a time.

As we start our second decade, we remain committed to our mission of diversity. We’ve always believed that diverse teams build better products and drive more innovation. That’s why we offer scholarships to support individuals with diverse backgrounds as they get into tech. We strive to make our curriculum accessible for individuals of all experiences and backgrounds, and we work with organizations to invite, recruit, educate, and place underrepresented talent into high-potential tech careers.

Today, we’re proud to say that we have over 10,000 Flatiron School graduates, and through our Enterprise business are helping our clients, from Fortune 500 companies to top universities, to shape the future of work.

Ten years is just the beginning. Here’s to the next decade of Flatiron School, and all the decades to follow.

With gratitude, I express my heartfelt thanks to our employees, students, and clients. I can’t think of a better group of individuals to celebrate with.
