Designed for both early-career developers and newcomers to tech, these programs combine hands-on experience, career-relevant skills, and paid apprenticeships to accelerate your journey into high-demand fields like AI, Data Science, and Software Engineering.
What Is the Work-Study Apprenticeship?
The Work-Study Apprenticeship is a 14-month paid training program that combines Flatiron School’s proven curriculum with a paid apprenticeship at a partner company. This unique program allows you to apply your skills in a real-world professional environment immediately, ensuring you graduate with both industry-recognized credentials and the practical experience employers demand.
By integrating learning with work, apprentices can cover their tuition entirely while earning an income.
- Program Duration: 14 months (part-time coursework + paid apprenticeship)
- Tuition: Net zero tuition. Earnings/scholarships cover the cost of tuition, and you earn approximately $14,100 (about $1,007/month)

Program Tracks
We understand that every career journey is unique. That’s why we’ve designed two distinct tracks to meet you where you are, whether you’re an experienced developer looking to upskill or someone just starting their tech journey.
Experienced Developer Track
Ideal for early-career developers with a CS degree or bootcamp experience
- Part-Time Learning: 20 hrs/week AI & Data Science program
- Part-Time Work: 20 hrs/week paid apprenticeship
- Total Duration: 14 months
- Earnings: $26,000 while learning
- Prerequisites: CS degree or Software Engineering bootcamp completion, proficiency in a modern programming language (Python, JavaScript, Java, etc.), availability ~40 hrs/week, and U.S. work authorization
Career Starter Track (Coming Soon)
Designed for those new to tech, this track offers comprehensive training before entering the workforce.
- Phase 1: Full-time Software Engineering Fundamentals Bootcamp (4 months, 40 hrs/week)
- Phase 2: Part-time AI & Data Science program + paid apprenticeship (14 months)
- Total Duration: ~17 months (Comprehensive full-stack + AI training)
- Prerequisites: No prior experience required, strong motivation to learn, availability ~40 hrs/week, U.S. work authorization, full-time commitment
