Review Your Technical Foundation
- Accelerated AI and Accelerated Cyber Engineering Candidates: Be ready to discuss your current stack and any production experience you have. This includes concrete examples of how you applied your skills, solved problems, and worked in collaborative development environments.
- This section is specifically for those with prior development experience, as AI Engineering and Cyber Engineering Immersive candidates do not need a technical foundation.

Demonstrating Problem-Solving Skills
What to Expect
- AI Engineering and Cyber Engineering Immersive Candidates: You may be asked to discuss how you’d approach learning a new concept or solve a problem.
- Accelerated AI and Accelerated Cyber Engineering Candidates: You may be asked to discuss a technical challenge you’ve faced, how you debugged it, or how you’d architect a solution.
How to Show Your Thinking
- Ask clarifying questions: Show that you gather requirements and context before diving in.
- Acknowledge what you don’t know: It’s better to say “I haven’t encountered that, but here’s how I’d approach learning it.”
- Connect to real examples: Reference experiences that demonstrate your problem-solving in action.
Showing Your Mindset
Technical skills can be taught, but a growth mindset cannot. We are looking for evidence that you can learn, adapt, and take feedback in a fast-paced, real-world environment.
How to Demonstrate It
- Share learning stories: Describe a time you learned something difficult, asked for help, or pivoted based on feedback.
- Show curiosity: Ask thoughtful questions about the curriculum, projects, and how learning is structured.
- Embrace challenges: When discussing obstacles, focus on what you learned and how you grew, not just what went wrong.
Communicating Your Commitment
Be prepared to explain how you’ll balance work, learning, and life, and why our model works for your situation. We want to see that you understand the real commitment it requires and that you’ve thought through how you’ll sustain it for 14 to 18 months.
Why This Matters
The immersive program is structured to produce measurable career outcomes through sustained effort:
- AI Engineering and Cyber Engineering Immersive Candidates: 40 hours/week for 18 months (4-month full-time course + 14 months part-time apprenticeship)
- Accelerated AI and Accelerated Cyber Engineering Candidates: 40 hours/week for 14 months (20 hours apprenticeship + 20 hours coursework)
Your ability to manage this commitment directly impacts your success, and the success of your employer partner.

The work-integrated model helps me offset the cost, translate my existing experience into technical leverage and gain real experience at the same time.”
- Accelerated AI and Accelerated Cyber Engineering: “I feel replaceable as a generic junior engineer in an fast-changing market and see the need to upgrade my skills. Earning while learning means I’m compounding leverage while staying professionally active and gaining momentum.”
Tips from Our Admissions Team
As a bonus section, we’ve asked members of our team, Jem Millett, Senior Director of Admissions, and Jenny Lustig, Immersive Program Recruiter, to share their best interview tips with you all.
Be Authentic
Share your real story and motivations. Being genuine helps us understand who you are and why you want to join the program. You do not need to have perfect answers. What matters most is showing your presence, demonstrating that you have prepared, and carrying yourself with poise throughout the conversation.
Show, Don’t Just Tell
Instead of saying “I’m committed,” describe the specific steps you’ve already taken to explore tech or advance your skills. Instead of saying “I’m a problem-solver,” walk through a concrete example of a challenge you’ve tackled.
Understand the Program
Make sure you understand how the immersive program structure works and why it’s designed this way: to create real-world business impact while you learn.
Ask Thoughtful Questions
Your questions reveal how deeply you’ve thought about this opportunity. Ask about employer partnerships, curriculum and program structure, and outcomes.
Good luck with your interview! We have a competitive selection process and limited spots available, so be sure to show up prepared, be yourself, and demonstrate your commitment to this next step. Review this guide, reflect on your story, and come ready to share it!
