A Change to Our Programming

When the news of COVID-19 first filled headlines, none of us could have anticipated the impact this unprecedented global pandemic would have on what we consider to be normal life. The way we live, work and learn has changed drastically and quickly. Like many organizations around the world, Flatiron School has focused on ways to ensure the continuation of our business and our commitments to our students despite the ongoing economic impact of this virus.

Our first thoughts are always with our community of students and teachers. The most difficult decisions we’ve had to make were ones that balanced the tension between providing more services and flexibility to our students and maintaining the staff and resources necessary to deliver on the promise of a transformative education. Early on in this crisis, we committed to preserving the rigor and integrity of our educational experience, while finding solutions to protect and support our students as they too, navigate this uncharted path. That balance has been challenging to navigate and maintain, and we’re grateful for the feedback and dialog with our students and staff as we’ve implemented these changes. While we aspire to always do more, we also need to contend with this environment’s economic realities.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored ways to reduce operating costs in a way that ensures we can continue to serve our students with the quality of education they deserve and have come to expect. As such, beginning today we will be pausing all future enrollments in our UX/UI Design program, as well as all on-campus programs in Atlanta, London, and Tampa. All currently underway cohorts will continue as scheduled. These changes will not affect current students enrolled in these areas, who will continue to receive education and career services in their programs.

There is no immediate timetable to reopen enrollment for our UX/UI Design program or to our physical campuses in Atlanta, London, or Tampa; however, we will continue to evaluate the courses we offer as the economic environment and our business allows.

Our mission is to enable the pursuit of a better life through education, and painful as this period has been, our commitment to that vision — and our ability to continue to deliver for our student communities —  is as important now as ever. We remain confident in our ability to deliver life-changing education for our students and grateful for our part in helping thousands of graduates pursue new careers.

To our students, thank you for trusting us with your education. It is a privilege we do not take lightly. We join our global community in looking to the future, and hope you are able to stay safe in this time.
